Songs for Sooner by Rory Faithfield

CD Reviews

Songs for Sooner by Rory Faithfield

From the first track "Big Blue Western Skies", Rory Faithfield takes you on a melodic and lyrical journey that picks you up and carries you along with the music.

Rory's Irish heritage shines through in the haunting track "Clonard". His use of violin, viola, Uillean pipes and whistles gives this song a quality that should raise goose bumps on anyone with even the smallest amount of Irish blood flowing through their veins.

After listening to this fine album several times in the last week or so I am really impressed! Rory is a fine lyricist who uses words sparingly
but with great effect. Rory's talent for combining melodies played with tangible feeling and superb lyrics leads me to think that Rory Faithfield has a big future ahead.

I particularly like "A Little Light" and find myself uplifted each time I listen to it. There is a touch of harmonica that just sets the track off.

All songs on this CD are written by Rory, and co-produced with Gavin Murphy. Recording was done in Ireland at Spiral Studios and at The
Cauldron Studios where the mixing and mastering was also completed.

If you are a fan of acoustic folk/blues music then "Songs for Sooner" should be in your collection.

I give this album a big thumbs up.
