Johns and Mason

Johns and Mason are a duo consisting of two respected musicians who have enjoyed the spotlight in two legendary Australian bands. Neale Johns is best known as the singer of innovative Sydney band BLACKFEATHER. His recordings "Seasons of Change" from the album "Mountains of Madness" and "Boppin' the Blues" with BLACKFEATHER, have remained Australian classic's and he is still recognized by his peers as one of the countries finest voices.

Neale has been in countless bands over the years, BLACKFEATHER and for a time he was in Fingerprint while living in the UK.
He is at the moment appearing on the second Tuesday of the month at Fad Gallery Bar in Melbourne.

Brenden Mason is guitarist and songwriter with the highly successful Melbourne based band MADDER LAKE, who's hits "Goodbye Lollypop" and "12lb Toothbrush" pushed Mushroom Records into the mainstream, achieving gold LP status with "Stillpoint". Brenden's inventive playing on acoustic, dobro, slide, guitar synth, and electric guitars showcases his talents and helps to create the atmosphere in their material.

Together, Neale and Brenden have developed a song writing partnership
that has spanned almost 30 years.

Due to separate projects in different states, time has prevented them until now from collaborating on recording their vast catalogue of material. However, that has changed and their first of many CD'S is nearing completion. They are presently organizing 40+ songs into 3 separate projects, songs they will showcase at their performances.
Johns and Mason feel the presently popular acoustic environment is the best initial vehicle for airing new songs to an audience. It is in this situation that a melody is shown in its most natural form. However they still can take on different forms as a trio, 4-piece band (vocals/guitars/bass/drums), 5-piece (added keyboards), and 7-piece (female vocals and sax).

The big project at this moment is the Rock of Ages Gig too which will be held at the Crown Casino, Palms in Melbourne where Blackfeather, which consists of Neale Johns/singer/songwriter, Brenden Mason Singer/songwriter/guitarist, Kerry McKenna singer/songwriter/guitarist and Nick Carrafa on Drums (Nick is an actor/drummer etc) on the 13th of March, 2010.
Also present at this gig, which has been put together by Aztec Music, will be  Chain, Madder Lake, Spectrum and Jim Keays' Masters Apprentices.
